DANIEL E. DAVIS
Daniel E. Davis is an entrepreneur and inventor leveraging over 40 years of experience in lifting, heavy construction, and transportation industries. He is highly respected for his innovative contributions to the crane industry where his passions lie. He has held senior executive and consultant positions for major manufacturers such as Manitowoc, Favelle Favco, Caterpillar, and Volvo. He is holder of numerous crane and construction equipment patents and patents pending in USA, Canada, Australia, South Korea, and Germany. He has developed many product improvements, application and process solutions, and entire new
product designs. Many of these are patented. He has advanced those to serial production, typically, by completing the concept through prototype stages within his own company and then licensing and/or selling the IP to a major OEM. In most of those cases, he has been retained as an employee or Senior Consultant to executive management as part of the IP transfer.
Daniel is hands-on in all aspects of his businesses. At age 19 he was already a certified crane operator working offshore in the Oil & Gas industry in South East Asia. He grew from that into management and executive positions while formalizing his innovative path. In addition to successfully developing and commercializing multiple inventions, in the last 25 years, he has created and successfully operated multiple private businesses in manufacturing, construction contracting, trucking, shipping, dredging, and agriculture.
His leadership experiences include:
- OWNER / CEO – Davis Wind Lift System and Creative Lift Solutions, both Texas USA based innovation companies developing IP for the wind and renewable energy markets.
- Senior Consultant to the CEO – The Manitowoc Company, a Wisconsin USA based company providing sales, marketing, manufacturing, and product development expertise.
- Inventor / Product Development Consultant – Volvo Construction Equipment, Excavator Division, a South Korea based construction equipment manufacturer who had purchased the IP for a product line of excavator based pipe layers.
- Inventor / Product Development Consultant – Caterpillar, an Illinois USA based construction and mining equipment manufacturer, under a contract to produce six prototypes utilizing Davis pipelayer proprietary IP adapted to Caterpillar excavator power modules.
- Product Development Consultant – National Oilwell Varco, a Texas USA based company, assessingdesign and over seeing manufacturing as they merged two product lines from corporate acquisitions.
- President of North American Operations and Product Development – Favelle Favco Cranes (M) Sdn Bhd, a Texas USA based arm of the Malaysian parent company Muhibbah Engineering, establishing their first North American manufacturing, sales, and marketing organization. Initiated with a full line of tower cranes. Expanded to include offshore cranes. Developed fastest line speed tower crane in the industry leading to 30 machine, $45M sales, to City of New York and dominant market position even today. Designed, built and sold first Telescopic and Lattice Boom Crawler Cranes based on Caterpillar excavator power modules with Davis proprietary IP licensed to Favelle Favco.
- Managing Director of South East Asia – The Manitowoc Company, Singapore headquartered but reporting directly to the CEO in Wisconsin USA. Worked with the Corporate Crane Group on global sales, marketing and dealer network development. Focus included Manitex Boom Trucks, Manitex Offshore Cranes, and emerging West Manitowoc Crane line. Interfaced with Southeast Asian supply base on quality and design issues, developed solutions, and guided engineering and corporate management. Managed licensed manufacturing in Malaysia and China.
